SIRES OF MERIT

Three outstanding and dominant sires have contributed in greater part to the continuing success of Sjecoin boxers over the past two decades. We have, indeed been fortunate that they have so reliably produced offspring of which we can be proud. They are seen in other pages of this presentation but as Sires of Merit, they deserve mention here. The illustrations of "Winter Forcast" and "Golden Gloves" are from the colour plates in the publication "The History of Boxers in Victoria 1947 2004 published by the Boxer Association of Victoria.
Simon

Ch Sjecoin Winter Forcast "Simon"

Wh: 7-6-1982   d: 30-12-1993

Sire: A & NZ Ch Assisi Summer Splurge
Dam: Ch Sjecoin P'sonality Plus (DOM)

"Simon" began life as a rather gawky baby, remarkably different from his siblings. In the puppy box, he preferred his own company to his peers. His history is chronicled elsewhere in this website. But as a dominant male, both as a showman but more especially as a sire, he was the supreme boxer and was loved, admired and respected by his owner, Rosina. Producer of 37 champions and 2 Grand champions are almost without peer. His legacy can still be seen in Sjecoin boxers to this day.
Mitts

US Ch Merrilanes Golden Gloves (IMP USA) (SOM) "Mitts"

Wh: 17-9-1988   d: 24-2-2000

Sire: US Ch Merrilanes Knockout (SOM)
Dam: Vagabonds Black Onyx

Rosina says, " I campaigned "Mitts" to his US title before making the long 10 months journey home. He was the sweetest boxer I have ever owned and also the greatest clown. I am always in the debt of Mrs Eleanor Linderholm-Wood who steered me to this marvellous dog whose genes so benefited the bitches sired by "Simon" and produced the remarkable tally of 41 champions and 5 Grand champions. One cannot live in or dwell on the past but the present owes so much to this exceptional boxer that I may be excused in reflecting once more on how lucky I have been in finding such a boxer as "Mitts"
Angus

Ch Sjecoin Do Applaud "Angus"

Wh: 8-11-1997   d: 11-5-2009

Sire: US Ch Merrilanes Golden Gloves (IMP USA, SOM)
Dam: Ch Sjecoin The Ants Pants (DOM)

"Angus", the son of "Mitts" was, in his own right, a boxer of distinction. Inheriting many of the attributes of his sire, he was also a serene and unflappable male. Whilst successful as a showman he was a consummate sire himself, delivering to the boxer world 9 champions and 2 Grand champions. A household companion to Rosina and David, his recent demise leaves this position of authority to his daughter, "Julia" - Gr Ch Sjecoin Heaven Can Wait.
